      Reading Long Division again on my return trip back to NYC, as I looked at the book sitting there on the formica table in the lounge car, I thought about how the book addresses the very object of the book itself. Long Division as a material text is a character in the novel. It was Ezra Pound who said that “Man reading should be man intensely. A book that explains the steps of long division. This book uses a family and their house to help students memorize each step and where the numbers go. This book has a space at the end for students to practice a problem inside of the "long division house." The illustrations of the family can be color 4/5(4).
